Started taking Trazadone 3 months ago,and it doesn't work. Still suffering from lack of sleep.

A red flag goes up for me when the person describes the effects of Trazadone on herself, her two daughters-in-law, and her grandaughter. It sure sounds like prescription medication is handed out by generation, and perhaps even for those other than whom the prescription was written. I sure hope I am wrong, but the point I wanted to make is that is simply dangerous, to give prescription medication to ANYONE other than for whom it was written, regardless of motivation, and regardless if someone is having a difficult time going to sleep. The "take a pill" mentality has led hundreds of thousands down a very dark road, especially when we teach the youngest in our family to handle lifes ups, and downs with taking a pill, especially a pill that doesnt belong to us.

I take 75mg of "traz" every night & love it. I don't have a "hangover" in the morning. Even as a child I never slept more that 4 hrs a night-that's fine when you're 12 but when you're 60 & still working-it's a whole different situation

Pros

Helps me get a good night's rest.

Cons

If I take the full 150mg (I take 1/2) I have weird dreams all night. My 2 daughter-in-laws & a grand-daughter say the same thing.

I find that taking trazadone at a low dosage help me to sleep. But I have to make sure I can get 8 hours.

Pros

Low dosage works for me.

Cons

If I know I will get less then 8 hours I skip the dose and then I only get 2 or 3 hours of sleep.

I do find that I am groggy when I do wake up.

Trazadone is the only thing I've taken that even comes close to putting me to sleep.

Pros

Gives me a few hours of good sleep compared to not having any at all.

Cons

none

Pros

For a while it helped me to sleep.

Cons

At the highest FDA approved dose, i slept like a zombie, but it only worked for a bout one year, then it just made me have severe fatigue all the time.
