I broke my leg on Ambien CR in September 2006 while sleep walking. In March 2007 I broke two bones in the same leg, only this time I underwent tib-fib surgery. I spent 1 month in the hospital and was wheel-chair bound for 4 months.Thankfully, my leg healed completely, and I experienced no pain or discomfort once I left the hospital, and I was able to to work part of the time. After I left the hospital, I began to hear about the danger to sleep walkers who take Ambien CR.

I found it difficult to fully "wake up" in the morning. Always had a lingering hang-over.

Pros

It helped me get to sleep quickly

Cons

It didn't keep me asleep and had a severe hang-over affect on me.

I was told by one of the Sleep Technicians that people with severe sleep apnea should not take any type of sleeping pill (prescribed or OTC). I assumed that this was because this would make the throat muscles relax even more and CPAP less effective. Who is correct? HELP!!!

Ambien has been a Godsend for me and my wife.

With all the stress in our lives Ambien works wonders in getting us to sleep fast and keeping us asleep with no morning hangover or after effects.

Pros

Great sleep and no after effects.

Cons

Pricey

Ambien has been very helpful to me, especially after starting CPAP. The noise from the machine - no matter how quiet - would keep me from sleeping. Also helps when I have a migraine

Pros

no hangover

Cons

sometimes still can't get to sleep — maybe it helps 80% of the time
