I take lyrica because that was suggested by my doctor…what are the differences in that and mirapex? Also, I take magnesium, a multivitamin for women, and citrical D every morning. The doctor have me a small dose of zanaflex to relax my muscles…recently ran out and had a crick in my neck for 4 days!

Inflammation is believed to be a key factor when it comes to Restless Legs Syndrome. A new study was published in the January 14, 2012 issue of "Sleep Medicine Review Journal" that supports this theory. You can read that study here:

You can view the results of other related scientific studies and learn about some helpful solutions at this RLS information website:

A blog for RLS sufferers with helpful tips can be found here:

An essential element is a proper diet that avoids as many inflammatory foods as possible. Unfortunately most of the good tasting foods are inflammatory.
If you don't think there's a relationship between diet and Restless Legs, try having a bowl of ice cream before bed. You'll wish you hadn't.
Hope this helps!

bluetulip - I am fortunate in that I use Mirapex as needed for my RLS. I've learned tolive with and block out the 24/7 creepy crawlies on my feet and legs. How are you doing? I've been thinking about you.

I tried a home remedy and it works for both myself and my Mom. Take an ordinary bar of soap and put it under the bottom sheet of the bed. Sounds strange but it's something in the soap that relaxes the legs. Works for us.

Sorry to hear about your RLS, it can be a real problem. Just something I wanted to pass along. I had RLS for 5 years and took Requip. I didn't like the effects it had on me but I was resigned myself to the fact that I would have to take it the rest of my life. But I didn't give up and kept researching. I finally found, with the help of others, that magnesium helps. Alot has to do with the correct dosage. I take 100 mgs. When I went to my annual physical I found out they didn't include magnesium levels when they tested my blood. What I found out is I was very low. I started taking magnesium last Decemeber and my RLS is gone plus I sleep real good now. Magnesium really works on the nerves. Hey this might help you. Good luck.
